Snow And Ice Forecast

The Meteorological Office has issued a severe cold weather warning for the remainder of this week and also the weekend with temperatures not expected to rise above 5C throughout the daytime.

The weather front set to hit the UK tomorrow will result in cold air across the country, with northern Britain, Wales and the Midlands having the greatest risk of snow. This current cold weather warning issued by the Met Office covers the majority of the country and even southern England and London are likely to experience wintry showers.

A spokesman for the Met Office said the storm that is closing in looks like taking a more southern path. This suggests that to the north you will see more cold air which means there is a likelihood of snow which will cover a great deal of the north, Wales and also the Midlands. It’s hard to say how much, but it is likely to be of a couple of centimetres at low levels with more for higher ground, and highest temperatures of about 4C for Friday and as low as -1C for Saturday.

The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for the North East, the North West and Wales today, and alerts are in place for the Midlands, the South East and South West.
